Lang & Schwander Hotel Interiors Partners with Eden Reforestation Projects to Plant Trees Around the World

MIAMI, FL. May 24, 2017 – Lang & Schwander, a hotel interior design company, is pleased to announce the beginning of their partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects to plant thousands of trees in an effort to offset their carbon footprint.

Lang & Schwander has pledged to plant 10 trees for every furniture piece they produce and hotel room they design. Lang & Schwander is committed to taking care of the planet in a sustainable and palpable way which is why they chose to join forces with Eden Reforestation Projects, a California-based nonprofit that employs local villagers to plant millions of trees every year in countries suffering from radical deforestation. To date, Eden Projects has planted 150,000,000 trees in 3 countries.

Eden Projects will be responsible for planting thousands of trees in Madagascar on behalf of Lang & Schwander. Lang & Schwander has established a baseline of planting 10 trees per hotel room, to cover both the materials used and to offset their carbon footprint. With 400 rooms completed by Lang & Schwander in 2016, an average of 4,000 trees would be planted to offset room design and materials, in addition to thousands more planted for each piece of furniture they design.

As an eco-friendly and sustainable hotel company, Lang & Schwander is thrilled to participate in the great work Eden Projects has accomplished. Joining forces to reduce waste output, combat climate change via deforestation, and empower those in poverty, the two are excited to start their work planting in Madagascar, a country that has lost 80% of their forests since the late 1950s. If deforestation continues in Madagascar, the local species will suffer extinction and the inhabitants will lose all sources of livelihood.

Both Lang & Schwander and Eden Projects believe communities will flourish if cared for by the people who depend on it. By empowering locals to plant trees in their own backyards, they are able to earn a living wage to provide for their families and break the cycle of poverty. As their joint reforestation effort goes on, healthy forests can emerge and the negative effects of deforestation on the environment and on society can begin to disappear.
