Why it's essential you travel : How travel & Tourism boost Global Economics

Where does the greatest industry growth lie?

When we think of travel, images of vacations and leisure come to mind. But today, travel and tourism has emerged as one of the major industries of the world and generator of jobs. The economic, social and cultural effects that stem from the tourism & hospitality industry are essential for some cities in the world to simply get by.

In some cases, travel and tourism boost whole economies such as holiday destinations like Cancun, Mexico where the whole region depends on it. Tourism jobs include airlines, hotels, travel agencies, booking companies, tour operators and dining. Whilst Miami also thrives on trade, tourism is also a main economic growth contributor. What continues to drive growth is the increased purchasing power of its Latin American visitors from Brazil, Venezuela, and Colombia that have established themselves in Miami as major visitors and  investors, and as a result increasingly as residents.

How Hotels get a Five-Star Rating

How Hotels get a Five-Star Rating

Winning the coveted rating is no easy feat. Only 58 hotels in the U.S. were awarded the Forbes Five-Star recognition this year report the LA Times.

Hotel owners vie for the Forbes distinction because it enables them to charge much higher rates. For example, the four-star Beverly Hilton recently posted average daily rates of $245 to $325, while the five-star rated Beverly Hills Hotel posted rates of $510 to $540.

With Forbes, the difference between a four- and five-star hotel is primarily the level of service offered by the staff.

“Graciousness, courtesy and thoughtfulness — it’s much harder to get that right,” said Mike Cascone, president of Forbes Travel Guide, formerly known as the Mobile Travel Guide.

Among other guidelines for Forbes five-star hotels:
– Arriving guests are greeted and assisted curbside within 60 seconds of arriving.
– Wake-up calls are delivered within two minutes of the requested time.
– Refills at restaurants are offered within 30 seconds of the guest’s beverage being empty.
– No telephone call is left on hold longer than 30 seconds without being offered a call back.

Meet our newest hotel friends!

Meet our newest hotel friends!

We cannot express our excitement that this year we had the privilege to be of service to some of the best hotel brand names in the world. As the new year approaches we want to thank all those who have allowed us at Lang & Schwander to be the best we can be. The design and quality demands of our clients have certainly posed challenges yet it has driven us to be more and the results have been incredible.

We are also very grateful for the opportunities we have been given to collaborate with some of the top designers like Sagrada, AvroKO, Hirsch Bedner & Associates, Hinojosa Design and our very own in-house designer, Melida Williams. Their skills are inspiring and their passion is second to none.

The end of year will take us back to Switzerland where L&S has it’s originating roots. Here are pictures of two projects we have had the pleasure to be working on.

From all of us at L&S, best wishes for the holidays and may the New Year bring you all the very best.
